What is a Design a Camp (Residency Camp)?

I had a great question asked by an interested camper family, and this was my answer.

Do we have any family camps, if so, explain a little about them?

Yes, we have two camp options.

Camp 1: July 15-21st, and

Camp 2: July 22nd -28th

Both of these camps start on the property and then venture out to places off of the property.

This Design a Camp allows our family, the Slaton family, and another family to spend a week together doing planned activities.

We only take one family per week.

Because we are a Sustainable Mini Farm, many of our activities are farm related. Not all, but many.

Our day always starts off the same, the family gets up and does simple farm related chores, then we get ready for breakfast together. We all pitch in to help with this picking of veggies or fruit from the greenhouse, collecting the eggs, etc. This allows us to work together as one unit. After breakfast, we are off to the choices made for the Design a Camp that we created together within the budgeted restraints, of course.

Last year, with two other families, we spent a lot of time visiting and working at various types of farms, kayaking, swimming, fishing, shooting archery, etc. We planned our activities together over a few months period, and when the camp day came, we were excited to go on our adventures together.

These two camps are designed to bring families together through farm related experience, and or simply enjoying the night at a fire in the back yard. Depending on the choices that camp families, and our family make together, as well as the willingness to try new experiences in new setting, dictates the experience we have as a group.

If you are on Facebook, you can get to know who we are by looking at our post on our Facebook page: Macon Worldschoolers. This will also ease you mind as a family coming to a strange persons home for the very first time. Many of the camp pictures are on this Facebook page as well. You'd have to scroll through to June or July of last year to find them. You should have a lot of laughs by then also.

If you have any other questions, I'll be happy to answer them for you
